Fauna Survey

fauna survey services

Bemrose Wildlife Management Services can assist with Fauna survey's and management plans that can cater for vegetation land clearance and infrastructure projects that will affect significant habitat areas containing endangered, rare or vulnerable (EVR) fauna.
The Queensland Nature Conservation Act 1992 (NCA) and the Commonwealth Environment Protection and Biodiversity Conservation Act 1999 (EPBC Act) is legislation that asssits fauna managers in determining what speciesand their classification that are likely to be within prospective areas that are to be cleared.
Under the guidelines enacted by the Department of Environment and Resource Management of Australian Commonwealth legislation on-site assessment and management of highly significant fauna species may require specialized planning. In order to effectively manage and relocate EVR wildlife if necessary, the assessment of environmental and ecological components will have to be conducted. Critical habitats may also have to be assessed to determine the nature of the habitat and the abundance of any one species.

Fauna management

Fauna Management Plans are and can be a critical tool for Fauna consultants to aide in the planning of management strategies of on-site endangered, rare or vulnerable wildlife. Within Brisbane, the Brisbane City Council can facilite as to which direct governing body that vegetation clearing will be applicable.

BWMS has extensive experience investigating habitat types and sites for the presence and abundance of EVR listed wildlife within Queensland, Northern Territory and New South Wales.
  • Bemrose Wildlife Management Services offers fauna survey services for all areas that are considered of significance and or contain species that are considered endangered, rare or vulnerable.
  • Fauna surveys are valuable for all land and vegetation clearance project managers, as an early assessment of sites can aide in the establishment of an appropriate strategy to ensure habitat and ecological values in addition to maintaining working time lines.

fauna survey aims

Detailed Fauna surveys are aimed at itemising species sedentry and migratory species that may be encountered on or within roadside, linear, pipeline and trench or broadscale work sites. BWMS utilises various survey methods to determine a relative population abundance or presence of wildlife species. Anecdotal fauna evidence surveys are also conducted to determine potential species that inhabit and utilise any one site. Spotlight surveys are valuable tools when conducting species specific surveys as they can aide in the establishment of habitat use by fauna.
